OP-ED & COMMENTARY
In his column in the Business Standard, Ajay Shah writes on
A rapid recovery in China? He writes on whether government stimulus can bring the Chinese economy back to health, and how China's real problem is that their engine of manufacturing exports growth is faltering. This is complicated by the shift from the second globalisation to the third globalisation. He believes that navigating the way forward for India requires deep integration into the global value chains that are centred in the advanced economies.
India has skin in the global game. Stories about Indian growth episodes rarely feature the influences of the world, of global peace and economic success. He argues that India has been a huge beneficiary of globalisation, our business cycle is correlated with the global economy, and therefore global shocks greatly matter. India is currently facing a more difficult global environment, but at the same time growth of Indian exports or GDP has to be sought after. Indian foreign policy needs to focus on becoming a more active participant in improving the global environment, and support projects of global peace, stability, and globalisation.
